Our Children’s Ministry
Mission StatementOur Purpose
We believe that God has given parents the responsibility for raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:7; 11:18-19). This responsibility is delegated to us during specific time periods. We exist to endeavor to assist, enhance, reinforce and stimulate a Godly lifestyle in the children that is consistent with Scripture and in support of the parents.
Our Vision
To run a ministry that feeds and equips Christ's youngest saints through teaching and discipleship. To create an environment for the children where positive memories can be built along with a sense of church community through activities, camps and programs that would enable us as a family to evangelize our community.
Our Goal
To assist the parents in developing children who are well grounded in God's Word, equipped to live out the character of God, able to withstand the onslaughts of Satan, worldliness and peer pressure, and capable of evangelizing and discipling others for the kingdom of God.
Our Goal Applied
We mean to be continually fulfilling this goal through a commitment to the following:
· We will provide a clean, efficient and loving atmosphere for every child committed to our care.
· We will teach children from the earliest age through the sixth grade the full character of God.
· We will introduce and develop the concept of worship through example and practice, to inculcate within the young believer a reverent response to God.
· We will provide in depth Bible instruction from both old and new testaments, beginning at the earliest ages, and increasing the depth of knowledge with each year of maturity so that by the sixth grade the children are firmly established in the Word of God.
· We will lead all children to an understanding of the full gospel of Jesus Christ.
· We will teach and model practical application of the Word through the process of discipleship.
· We will do all that we are able to assist parents in the training of their children.
· We will provide oversight, encouragement and admonition to the workers throughout the Children's Ministry.
A Word on Child Evangelism
Most children are at an age where faith and trust come very easily. They will usually believe what you say, and if you have proven yourself credible, accept it as truth. When we present the gospel to children we must remember this position we have over them at all times. Many times a child will agree with you and assert his or her belief in what you say without truly comprehending the real meaning behind your words.
In evangelizing children we must be very cautious so as not to sell them a "cheap gospel" which might say that becoming a Christian is just "asking Jesus into your heart", a phrase which most children grossly misinterpret.
Our Vocabulary must be chosen with great care, and the child's comprehension of our message carefully tested so as not to prematurely "get a commitment" from one who has an unclear understanding of what that means.
Too many so-called Christians rest their assurance on a prayer said as a child, while living a life of practical unbelief.
A large majority of Christians came to know Christ as their Lord and Savior at an early age. These formative years are often far riper for harvest than later when hardened by years of self-justifying sin.
We must, however, be very careful to procure true conversions in these young lives and be sure that the real harvester is the Spirit of God Himself.
