The Underground

Our youth ministry name, the Underground, has 2 nuances in its meaning:

1. As intelligence agents of our Commander-in-Chief, we are instructed to proclaim His secret mysteries, which have been revealed and explained in His Son, Jesus (Gen 3:15; Deut 29:29; Rom 16:25-27; Eph 1:9-10, 3:3-11; Col 1:25-27, 2:2-3)
• Group Motto: Jesus IS the intelligent choice.
2. The hearts, or Underground, of God's people will be blessed and will endure through the difficulties of life, if their trust is in the Lord alone and they are grounded upon His Word.
• Theme Verse: Jeremiah 17:7-8 says But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
  

CIA - Compassion in Action

The Junior High Ministry of the Underground is named the CIA: Compassion in Action. The name was taken from Zechariah 7:9 which says -- This is what the LORD Almighty says: Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.

We desire that our junior highers not simply be hearers of the word, but doers. It is because of our Heavenly Father's tangible act of sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin that we are able to once again experience God's love and grace.

These same motivations of compassion and mercy are what we desire our students to demonstrate toward their friends, family and enemies as an act of worship and gratitude.

NSA - New Song Ambassadors

The Senior High Ministry of the Underground is named the NSA: New Song Ambassadors. The name was taken from one of the great commission statements in the Old Testament: Psalms 96:1-3 --Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

As ambassadors of Jesus, we are to worship the Lord and proclaim His great name and marvelous deeds of salvation to all the nations of the earth
